500+ heat related deaths annually in Clark County, NV
Only 7% current urban canopy while 15% is the benchmark
This means there are not enough trees making shade where it matters most.
The Las Vegas Urban Forest Center (LVUFC) will be planting 3,000 trees across the valley by 2028.
The UAQL will be setting up AQ monitoring devices in select locations. This will increase the monitoring network and track daily improvements of this program.
Our sensors measure hourly Ozone, PM2.5, Temperature, and Relative Humidity.
The LVUFC and UAQL are looking for residents willing to have a new tree(s) installed in their backyards. Select candidates may be able to have an AQ monitoring device installed as well. To qualify for the AQ monitor you must have and area:
Free of animals
With access to a standard outdoor outlet
With sufficient cellular signal
With the space in your backyard for the sensor stand (12”Dx30”Wx60”H)
That can be used for 12 months
As a thank you will receive a $50 gift!
